In a prestigious residential school lived many students.  One day, one of the students was caught stealing from his room mate. The other students reported the theft to the principal. The principal took no action.
A few days later the same boy was again caught stealing. And once again it was reported to the Principal who took no action. Angered by the inaction of the Principal, the students stood together and demanded for the dismissal of the thief. They threatened to leave en masse if the boy was allowed to stay.
The Principal called the students and explained: he said “I am happy to see that you are all good boys and know what is wrong and what is right.  With that you will survive anywhere you go, but this young man does not know wrong from right.  If I don’t teach him who will?  So you see, I may be able to let you go but I cannot let him go until he learns right from wrong.”

The stealing student was extremely touched by the kindness and generosity of the Principal and never stole again.
