Omkar – We dissected the OM sound into three of its parts “Aa, O and Mmm” and chanted them one at a time to observe what sensation each sound makes within the body.  Children were very receptive to this exercise.   In addition to the many benefits of Omkar this exercise makes kids aware of their body an important aspect of Yoga.

Rigorous warm ups -  We built up our breath with  rigorous warm ups and stood in Tadasana to steady our breath.  This teaches children to become aware of their breath and moderate it.

Asanas -The following poses were practiced in class, with each of the poses we took a second to see which part of the body was stretched.   For more information on these poses please look up the following link to Yoga Journal  - http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/finder/browse_categories/standing
