The class started with gentle warm up stretches and then move on to standing poses – Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Vrikshasana (Tree Pose), Natarajasana (Dancing Pose), and Utkatasana (Chair Pose).

After asanas, we talked about the first two limbs of Ashtanga Yoga, the Yamas and Niyamas. We introduced Satya (Yama – truthfulness) and Shaucha (Niyama – Cleanliness of body and mind) and discussed how can we better practice them in a daily life?

Satya – “truth” or “not lying”

Shaucha  - Everyday we can practice Shaucha in a variety of ways - like having a shower, brushing teeth, clearing out clutter, recycling, singing and chanting mantras (for mind purification).

Parents please discuss with your kids at home on these two new topics.
